A pedestrian was struck and killed on the shoulder of the 15 Freeway near Lake Elsinore early on Monday, and the California Highway Patrol is investigating.
A Helendale man was walking north on the right shoulder of the northbound 15 Freeway at the exit on Indian Truck Trail just before 3:15 a.m., according to the CHP. A 64-year-old man from Riverside driving a semi-truck and trailer drove onto the right shoulder as he made a right turn and his rig hit the Helendale man.
The Helendale man died as a result of injuries from the crash. His identity was being withheld until family was notified, officials said.
The crash is under investigation and the CHP asked anyone with information on it to call 951-637-8000.
