WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Some people along the Cape Fear coast captured quite the sight Monday. One waterspout was seen in Pender County and another along the shore in Brunswick County.

According to the National Weather Service, a waterspout and/or tornado was spotted near Topsail Beach around 11:10 a.m. Reid Hawkins with the NWS office in Wilmington says they are planning to go out and view any damage.

Another waterspout was seen around 3 p.m. near Southport, Caswell Beach, and Oak Island.

Several viewers shares images of that one with WWAY.

One person did call Brunswick County 911 to report seeing the waterspout cross onshore near Caswell Beach around 3:08 p.m. If so, the circulation likely fell apart very quickly after landfall.

So far, there has been no reports of damage.

“Fair-weather waterspouts,” like the two mentioned above, rapidly develop and dissipate, having life cycles shorter than 20 minutes. They are also generally weak.

A tornado warning was not issued by the NWS.
