poloong.blogspot.com

Massachusetts beaches are being shut down to swimming on Wednesday after shark sightings along the Cape and off Plymouth, according to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy.

Nauset Beach in Orleans was closed to swimming for an hour Wednesday morning after a great white shark was spotted around 9:42 a.m.

Then around 11:34 a.m., lifeguards at White Horse Beach in Plymouth ordered people to get out of the water after the sighting of a great white shark about 100 yards from the swimming area. The beach will be closed for three hours.

Earlier at around 10:40 a.m., a shark was spotted 50 yards off North Beach Island in Chatham.

The sightings come after a woman was killed by a shark in Maine on Monday, the state’s first confirmed fatal shark attack.
