Local lawmakers voted along party lines as the United States Congress passed a $3.5 trillion budget.

Republican Congressman Mike Kelly of Butler voted against the bill arguing that it adds too much to the federal debt.

“We have become so out of touch with the people that supply every penny and cosign every debt that we do. My question is when do we in Washington start to surely represent the people who had faith and trust and sent us here,” Kelly said at a press conference.

Republican Glenn Thompson of the 15th District also voted against the budget. While Democrat Conor Lamb of the 17th District voted in favor of it.

It now moves to the Senate where its future is unclear.
