LOCKPORT, IL — Join the Lockport Township Park District for a subdivision sing-along on various dates throughout the rest of summer. The first concert will be held Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Sagebrook subdivision in Lockport.
The stop locations in the subdivision will be:
- 7 to 7:20 p.m. at Wirestem Drive and Pennyroyal Lane
- 7:35 to 7:55 p.m. at Thatcher and High Meadow Drive
- 8:10 to 8:30 p.m. at Sand Lilly Street and Sagebrook Drive
Everyone should remain socially distant and keep six feet apart, the park district said on its Facebook page.
Recreation supervisor Nikki Gotsch said the subdivision singalongs were invented after the Melody in Motion drive-by concerts did so well.
The park district is using its haywagon as a portable stage to travel through the neighborhoods.
"The idea stemmed from Disney Sing-Alongs, and we have been working with Lockport-Homer Youth Theater and Stage Play: Musical Theater for Kids to create the performance," Gotsch said. "The areas were chosen to represent our vast boundaries of Lockport Township as well as the popular subdivisions/communities from Melody in Motion."
The sing-along is aimed at kids ages 1-8.
"We are hopeful to bring some more joy to the community through an interactive experience rather than a character just riding by their house," Gotsch said.
There will be three 20-minute sing-alongs throughout each subdivision.
