Rain chances will be best for our more coastal communities, with a 60% or greater chance of seeing rain south of I-10. By midday storms will lift north in to the I-10 corridor, leaving us with a 40% chance for rain in and around Houston. Areas farther north of Houston have lower rain chances, but there's still a chance for a spotty shower or storm. Thunderstorms along the coast could produce a quick 1-2 inches of rain, with rainfall totals lowering with the rain chances as we go farther north. Temperatures will also return to a more typical low to mid-90s as a high, and that could be even cooler in spots where rain and clouds keep the sunshine at bay.
If you don't see the rain today, there are still more chances coming. The weekend will be drier than today, as rain chances dwindle to 30% Saturday and 20% Sunday, but another big surge in tropical moisture arrives Monday and sticks around for Tuesday. A third surge of tropical moisture should impact us Thursday and Friday of next week.
Don't expect rain at your house every day, but by the end of next week most of us will have seen at least one or two downpours. Temperatures are also back to a more manageable and typical pattern, with high temps in the mid-90s and low temps in the mid-upper 70s.
