An explosion along the Syrian-Israeli border on Friday caused damage to a building and a car in the Golan Heights town of Majdal Shams.
The Israeli army said a mortar or a rocket was fired from the Syrian side of the border, adding it was looking into the incident.
A Syrian source told Lebanese network Al Mayadeen that Syrian air defenses responded to a target, probably an Israeli drone, in the nearby Quneitra area.
Residents said shrapnel scattered around 200 meters (0.12 miles) from the border. Mayor Dolan Abu Salah said no one was hurt.
Last week, Lebanon's Hezbollah group said one of its fighters was killed in a strike blamed on Israel near Damascus International Airport.
The group vowed to retaliate for any fighter that Israel kills in Syria. In September, the group fired a barrage of anti-tank missiles into Israel after two of its fighters were killed in an airstrike attributed to Israel near Damascus.
