WATSONVILLE — A woman walking along Green Valley Road Monday evening was hit by a vehicle and suffered major injuries.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 33-year-old Watsonville woman was walking in the eastbound lane of Green Valley Road, just east of Minto Road, when a Watsonville man, 53, driving a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee collided with the pedestrian. The incident was reported shortly after 7:40 p.m.
As a result of the collision, the pedestrian sustained major injuries and was transported to Natividad Medical Center in Monterey County for treatment and evaluation. The driver sustained minor injuries.
The cause of the collision is still under investigation, but alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be contributing factors in this collision, according to a press release issued by the CHP.
