Portland is fortunate to have police officers like Peter Braun, who asked us in his opinion piece (“Police officers like me must earn our community’s trust,” June 3) to trust him in his promise to do his best to earn it and that he “will not let what happened to George Floyd happen on my watch.” Thank you, Officer Braun. Now all of us need to try to come together to figure out how we can avoid the problems that have become so evident in the protests against George Floyd’s death.
