SAN DIMAS, Calif. - A San Dimas man was shot dead outside his own home Tuesday night, authorities said.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to a call in the 1800 block of Hawkbrook Drive, off N. San Dimas Canyon Road, around 6:45 p.m. When deputies arrived, they found a man with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper torso.
The investigation reveals the victim had just pulled his Tesla into the garage when he was shot. The suspect proceeded to rob him and then took off from the scene.
The victim’s wife contacted authorities after finding him lying in their driveway.
The 43-year-old shooting victim was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics and his name has not been released by authorities.
A description of the suspect was not available and the circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation.
Homicide detectives believe the victim was targeted and that this may have been a follow-home robbery.
