Stormy weather is expected to move into the Wilson Times area Tuesday afternoon, with searing heat due to arrive by Saturday.
A trough and low pressure system to the south, eventually setting up along the North Carolina coast, will move thunderstorm chances to 40% late in the day Tuesday and then to 70% Wednesday and Thursday.
With abundant cloud cover, high temperatures Tuesday and Thursday are forecast to only reach the mid-80s with Wednesday’s high struggling to get into the low 80s.
As skies go from mostly cloudy to only partly cloudy on Friday, highs are expected to reach 90 followed by the mid-90s on Saturday.
The heat index will be in the low 90s each day except Wednesday, when it will hold in the upper 80s, and Saturday, when it’s likely to touch 100 degrees.
