ANN ARBOR, Mich. — The scene outside Michigan Stadium reminds me of years past.
Folks have packed the tailgating lot across the street at the golf course and extended their parties west down Stadium Boulevard on the Pioneer High School property.
The weather couldn’t be better, either. Temperatures are approaching 70 degrees and the sun is trying to shine through heavy cloud cover.
Inside the stadium, Michigan’s football team has taken the field. There are no immediate signs of serious injuries -- a team spokesman wasn’t aware of any major ailments pregame -- and most of the Wolverines’ starters are accounted for.
Now, whether they get on the field for the opening drives remains to be seen. There have been rumors about banged up players along the offensive line, which would explain why the coaching staff has remained so coy about starters.

Some pre-game notes ...
• Michigan’s first-team offensive line, based on pregame warmups: Ryan Hayes (left tackle), Trevor Keegan (left guard), Andrew Vastardis (center), Chuck Filiaga (right guard) and Andrew Stueber (right guard).
Zak Zinter was in uniform and present early on wit ha club on his right hand, leaving in doubt his eligibility. There have been rumors about injuries with Zinter, so we’ll see if he plays.
• Defensively, linebacker David Ojabo looks to be a starter on the edge opposite Aidan Hutchinson. Look for Ojabo and Taylor Upshaw to split time there; Michigan is going to do everything it can to deploy Hutchinson.
Up front, Chris Hinton and Mazi Smith appear to be starters up front along with a surprise, redshirt freshman Kris Jenkins. We heard about Donovan Jeter’s strong spring, so we’ll see where he falls on the depth chart here.
• All four scholarship quarterbacks are here and in uniform. Cade McNamara will get the start, but it remains unclear if true freshman J.J. McCarthy will see the field. Stay tuned.
• Ronnie Bell, A.J. Henning and Caden Kolesar were returning kicks, presumably punts. Meanwhile, a group that included Roman Wilson and Blake Corum were fielding kickoffs. Look for Michigan to try a couple of different options on both teams.
