ORLANDO, Fla. — It’s been another windy day with gusts over 30 mph in some neighborhoods.
What You Need To Know
- Brevard, Volusia I-95 areas could get evening showers
- Low pressure developing in Florida Straits, could get name
Under a mix of sun and clouds, temperatures were able to warm into the upper 70s and low 80s along the coast, and low to mid-80s inland.
We may still see a couple of isolated evening showers near Interstate 95 and overnight in Brevard and Volusia counties.
Low pressure developing in the Florida Straits tonight looks like it is on track to become our first named storm of the season, Arthur, at some point Friday. We’re still not sure if it will become a tropical or a subtropical system, with the only difference in how storms and the strongest wind forms around the center of circulation.
As the low deepens, it will send scattered showers and a few storms toward Central Florida with coverage at 30% tomorrow.
Dry air being pulled down behind the system will invade Saturday as we lower rain coverage to only 20% and keep Sunday sunny. We’re set to heat into the low 90s Saturday through Monday and close to 90 Tuesday and Wednesday.
Ocean conditions are forecast to deteriorate tomorrow afternoon into the weekend as low pressure moves across the Bahamas. We'll start off with a moderate threat for rip currents and watch this increase to high late tomorrow into the weekend. Unfortunately for surfers, chopped up waves of 4 to 5 feet will not be good to catch.
