JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man has died after he was hit by a vehicle on US-17 at Castleberry Road late Monday night, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened around 11 p.m. Preliminary information shows the man was walking along the highway when he was struck by the vehicle. He died at the scene, according to a JSO spokesperson.
The driver remained at the scene of the crash and is cooperating with investigators. Police said a witness is also cooperating.
Police said it wasn’t clear if the man was walking in the road or on a sidewalk when he was hit. Reporters asked the age of the man. JSO said the man was an adult.
No other information was released. Traffic Homicide Detectives were taking over the investigation at the time news media was briefed.
