If everything goes according to plan, Wawa will have another location in the area.
According to planning documents made public, Wawa is seeking to subdivide two acres of the 15.3-acre parcel that is the Fairless Hills Shopping Center at 500 Lincoln Highway in Falls Township to construct a new 5,500-square-foot convenience store and gas station. The Wawa would be built at the site of Arosso, A Touch of Sicily Italian-style restaurant at the corner of Aleans Avenue and Lincoln Highway.
Wawa plans to tear down the restaurant building and construct their own store and gas station.
The plans still have to go through Falls Township’s land development process and gain approval.
Dave Monterosso, who owns Arosso, A Touch of Sicily, said the paperwork has been signed and his restaurant will be moving to a new location in the Fairless Hills Shopping Center within the next few months.
Monterosso wanted to assure customers his business was only moving and would remain in operation.
The Wawa would be about two miles from the recently-opened Wawa with gas pumps at Pine Grove Road and West Trenton Avenue in Falls Township, which also will be home to Wawa’s first drive-thru location. The township also has a Wawa along Old Bristol Pike.
Within five miles of the Fairless Hills Shopping Center are 10 Wawa locations that are already operating. Not all are gas stations.
Wawa officials did not respond to a request for comment.
