HUDSPETH COUNTY, Texas -- Two separate, but nearby, semi-truck crashes backed up traffic for miles along Interstate-10 westbound in Hudspeth County on Tuesday evening - with the second incident turning deadly.
The first crash happened around 5 p.m. near mile marker 95 and involved a tractor-trailer rig that jackknifed. There was no word of any serious injuries for that crash or what caused it to occur.
The second crash, which was deadly, happened around 8 p.m. near mile marker 101. It involved a semi that struck an embankment and caught fire; the driver was apparently unable to escape the truck.
Motorists reported being snarled in lengthy traffic backups on the interstate throughout the night due to the pair of crashes.
