ALBANY — Hours after a 17-year-old was killed in a car on Southern Boulevard, two more people were shot in the city Monday night in a continuance of crime that's pushed the city to nearly 100 shootings for the year.
Monday night's violence began at 9:50 p.m., when police were summoned to Beverly Street and Pennsylvania Avenue to investigate reports of gunshots. A short time later, staff at Albany Memorial Hospital called police saying a 22-year-old gunshot victim was being treated at the hospital. Police said he suffered a gunshot wound to the leg. The shooting happened on the edge of the West Hill neighborhood.
Ten minutes later, police were sent to Moore Street near Saint George's Place to investigate another shooting, which happened a few blocks from the homicide earlier in the day.

Police said they found a 19-year-old man with gunshot wounds to the arm and torso. He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to Albany Medical Center. His condition was unclear Tuesday.
It is unclear if the shootings were tied to the earlier violence on Southern Boulevard where police said a 17-year-old was shot by assailants who ambushed the car he was riding in.
The gunmen fired a volley of shots into the car, killing the teen and wounding a 25-year-old man who was also in the car. Witnesses said the car was coming from a nearby funeral when another car pulled up and the shots were fired. The car drove off and police were searching for the shooters.
The shootings had the city on the verge of recording its 100th shooting this year. Twelve people have been killed.
On Monday, Police Chief Eric Hawkins said the homicide was not random.
