It’s Wednesday so the Buffalo Bills (4-1) are now turning their attention to their next opponent. This week, it’s the Tennessee Titans (3-2)

With that, here are eight storylines to follow this week during the lead up to game day:

Revenge game

The Bills had a very successful 2020 season. Perhaps the biggest bump in the road (not named the Chiefs) was their meeting against the Titans. Buffalo was blown out 42-16.

That game was moved several times due to a COVID-19 outbreak in Tennessee’s locker room. It was played on a Tuesday eventually.

Getting revenge is going to be asked about this week, just like it was a week ago ahead of facing the Kanas City Chiefs.

Heading into the bye with a win

After facing the Titans, Buffalo has their bye week. It’s always talked about how going into that weekend off with a win is always much nicer for a football team.

Everything Derrick

Everything is going to be asked about Titans running back Derrick Henry this week. He’s the best at his craft in the NFL.

Against Buffalo last season, he only had 57 yards on 19 carries, but he did score twice. It’s hard to slow him down and the Bills have to do it.

Injuries to Titans playmakers

Henry is not alone. Titans quarterback Ryan Tannehill had three passing touchdowns (and a rushing one) against the Bills in 2020. This year, his weapons are…dinged up.

Both top wideouts for Tennessee, Julio Jones (hamstring) and AJ Brown, have been injured in recent weeks.

Jones did not play in Week 5. Brown did, but was on a snap count. They’ll both be monitored this week.

Matt Milano's status

On Buffalo’s side of the injury front, all eyes on Matt Milano. The linebacker did not play in Week 5 against the Chiefs, but the Bills defense still hummed along.

On Monday, Buffalo head coach Sean McDermott commented that he didn’t want Milano to miss multiple games by forcing Milano out there too soon. The defender tried to go during warmups before last game, but didn’t.

From the sounds of that, Milano might be good to go this week because of how close he was to playing against KC.

But on the flip side, if he doesn’t, that means after the bye week Milano will certainly be ready to go for the rest of the season. A couple of options for the Bills to consider.

Turnover differential

By now you’re well aware that the Bills are the best team in the NFL taking the ball away on defense (15). That’s given Buffalo a turnover differential of plus-11, which is leading the league as well.

The Titans only have seven giveaways on offense. However, their differential is negative-three. That’s tied for the fourth-worst in the NFL.

The Bills’ opportunistic defense. should be winning this turnover battle… which helps win games.

Playoff importance

It’s only Week 6, but technically, the Bills would be in the No. 3 seed in the AFC playoff picture at 4-1 right. In No. 4? The Titans at 3-2.

Is what we’re saying is, this game is big… but because of how important it could be down the line. This is an AFC head-to-head win Buffalo will want to have in their pocket.

Snaps on the Bills offense

Two player snap totals might be talked about from the Bills offense this week: Cole Beasley and Zack Moss.

The wide receiver only played in 22 total against the Chiefs and went on to delete his Twitter. But McDermott insisted cutting his playing time was part of the “game plan” and nothing to do with anything else off the field.

Will that hold true? Is Beasley back and part of the plan?

In addition, the running back was far and away the No. 1 rusher for the Bills last week. Moss out-snapped Devin Singletary 42 to 15 snaps. That’s a wide margin. Is Moss RB1?
