New fitness studios’ machines use artificial intelligence

A new high-tech “smart fitness studio” has opened that relies on artificial intelligence and robotics instead of dumbbells, treadmills, etc. On Nov. 10, Danville resident Mark Heavey and Martinez resident Jennifer Ringenberg opened an Exercise Coach location at 3180 Crow Canyon Place, Suite 105, in San Ramon. Their new fitness studio’s machines adjust members’ workout to their strengths and weaknesses in real time, thereby helping people get the most out of their workouts and avoid injuries. Also, the machines automatically make the exercises harder as a person gets stronger, so there is never a plateau period.

Outfitted with proprietary, high-tech computerized machines instead of traditional equipment, The Exercise Coach’s personalized programs are optimized for efficiency, resulting in only two 20-minute workouts per week. The Exercise Coach’s robotic exercise technology is combined with the guidance of certified coaches. The studio blends personalized strength and interval cardiovascular training in each session. The Exercise Coach is the fastest-growing personal training franchise in America and the fifth fastest-growing U.S. fitness franchise, according to Entrepreneur Magazine.

Hospice East Bay’s tree ceremonies ongoing till Dec. 12

Hospice East Bay is proud to celebrate our 35th annual Tree of Lights. For 35 years these ceremonies have provided a way for families and friends to honor their loved ones and find solace in the symbolism of light as the names of their loved ones are read. These memorial events always provide a powerful moment of healing, but after coming through a pandemic that has claimed the lives of one out of every 500 Americans, these events will have a special significance this year.

There is an ongoing series of 12 ceremonies happening in Contra Costa County through Dec. 12. Following Lafayette’s Tuesday event are ceremonies in Danville at 5:30 p.m. Friday and Alamo at 5 p.m. Nov. 23. Each event will feature a reading of memorial names and a symbolic tree lighting. The funds raised by these ceremonies allow us to provide hospice care to patients in our community who are not covered by insurance. To view the full schedule of ceremonies, visit bayareane.ws/treeoflights online.
