SAN ANTONIO – A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning after he lost his balance and fell onto the access road of Interstate 35 on the South Side.

The driver of the car, however, kept going after the crash that happened around 4 a.m. on the northbound access road near West Pyron Avenue, just north of Southwest Military Drive.

The man, who is in his 30s, was riding on the sidewalk. At some point, he lost his balance because he also was carrying a duffel bag and television at the time, and fell onto the access road, police said.

A car that hit him kept going. His girlfriend was riding a bike behind him, but she told officers she did not see the vehicle involved or get a look at the driver.

The man was taken to University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, once found, will be charged with failure to stop and render aid.

Police are still investigating.
