Portland-based development firm Killian Pacific has announced plans for a 242-unit apartment project called Ninebark, located next to the Parker’s Landing area along the Columbia River between Camas and Washougal.
The complex will be built on a 9-acre site a short distance east of the Port of Camas-Washougal. The area between is also slated to be redeveloped into a commercial and mixed-use center as part of a separate master planned project from the port in partnership with RKm Development.
Construction on Ninebark is anticipated to begin in the fall of 2021, with the first units opening up about a year later, according to a press release from Killian Pacific. The complex will include eight three-story apartment buildings with units ranging from one to three bedrooms.
The community is being designed by Portland-based Holst Architecture, and will feature energy-efficient buildings with locally sourced wood. It will “target a sustainability certification while aiming for carbon neutrality and favoring biophilic design,” according to the press release.
In a virtual presentation Friday, Kevin Valk of Holst Architecture stated that the buildings would be broken up into 12-unit “modules” with separate interior entrance hallways rather than exterior stairs.
