QUAKERTOWN, Pa. - The Milford Township, Bucks County supervisors granted preliminary approval Tuesday night for an upscale drug and alcohol treatment facility.
The "wellness center and health recovery facility" would be located on a 40-acre parcel known as phase six of Milford Village, fronted by John Fries Highway (Route 663) and Old Bethlehem Pike.
Having secured conditional use approval from the supervisors last June, the proposed 70,000-square-foot luxury rehab would offer up to four-month addiction recovery stays in reportedly no more than 50 beds.
However, the developers reported that a proposed 45,000-square-foot "memory care" or Alzheimer's facility containing no more than 60 beds was put on hold due to setbacks resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Although the memory care center was deemed to be "phased in" as part of the overall plan, its approval from the board is yet to be finalized.
The supervisors did approve an adjacent, nearly 7,000-square-foot, corporate administration building.
Parking lots will be designed and built to preserve as much of the local woodlands as possible, the developers pointed out. In addition, a series of pathways and walking trails are still planned for introduction throughout the campus allowing for an earth-friendly natural environment to be maintained.
Alpas, along with LifeQuest and Caracor, LLC of Upper Macungie, is developing the sizeable 216-acre Milford Village.
Sean Smith, founder of Alpas, along with legal representatives from LifeQuest and St. Luke's Hospital attended the online-only supervisors meeting.
The project is yet to receive a final approval by the board and no date was noted for the finalization.
