SPRINGFIELD — Five years after federal agents raided the city’s two municipal golf courses to root out a cash-skimming scheme allegedly hatched by former golf pro Kevin Kennedy, no trial date has been set.
A final pretrial conference is set for Oct. 28 in U.S. District Court, and Kennedy’s lawyer is seeking emails and texts between the golf pro and his former bosses at city hall.
“We request any and all emails, text messages, memoranda, documents and any other writing of any description in which Pat Sullivan or any other member of the Springfield Parks and Recreation Commission suggests or indicates in any way that Kevin Kennedy should ‘use his judgment’ in setting fees for rounds of golf or any other golfing activity,” an Oct. 8 request by defense lawyer David P. Hoose reads.
