The fall storm that blasted the West Coast on Sunday will weaken Monday, leaving Portland with rain and some gusty winds.
High winds, strong surf and thunderstorms may continue along Oregon’s coastline through much of Monday, but the valleys should see a decrease in winds and just plain old rain.
Coastal high wind warnings continue through 9 a.m. and surf advisories linger through 6 p.m. It’s possible the National Weather Service will take some of those warnings down earlier as the weather calms along the beaches.
Portland will see showers continue throughout the day, and temperatures are expected to stay around 55 degrees, which will likely be the high as measured at the airport. Winds will still be strong at times with gusts of up to 30 mph possible.
Rain is the in forecast, at least in some form, for the entire week. Tuesday has a 100% chance of rain, with up to a quarter of an inch expected. Sunday’s storm brought just over a half inch as measured at the airport. Winds will be breezy with gusts as high as 25 mph. The high temperature will be around 58 degrees, nearly average for this time of year.
Wednesday may see the least amount of rainfall, but there’s still a good chance most areas will see at least some light shower activity. If you have storm drains or gutters to clear Wednesday will be the best day to do it. Skies will remain mostly cloudy, even through the dry times. The high will be around 58 degrees.
Forecasters are looking at another wet weather system showing up by Thursday, bringing more rain as we head toward the weekend.
Snow levels are staying above about 5,000 feet during much of this rainy period, so pass travel should remain just wet with some snow possible overnight.
