On Tuesday morning, reporters, photographers and videographers will be stationed around Tampa Bay, checking in at the polls and documenting this historic election. We should have a live updates story going by 7 a.m. ET. Look for it at the top of the tampabay.com homepage.
Throughout the day, we’ll post stories from our region, the state and the country. And, around 6:30 p.m. ET, we’ll start a live election analysis, driven by statehouse reporter Kirby Wilson and featuring political editor Steve Contorno and columnist John Romano.
In a story published today, state accountability reporter Allison Ross explains what happens after polls close in Florida, including how and when vote counts are reported. The Times uses the Associated Press to call presidential and state races. The AP addresses how it calls races in this helpful explainer.
When polls officially close at 7 p.m. ET, reporter Jay Cridlin will launch a live local results story that will keep you updated with the latest on races in Tampa Bay and Florida. This will include links to the over 50 election night stories we have planned. We’ll also have a selection of live results pages, built by data reporter Langston Taylor, for the presidential election, Florida Legislature, as well as Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando county races. You’ll find links to those at the top of tampabay.com or on tampabay.com/news/florida-politics/elections/.
