Who to follow in the KBO - The Good Phight

poloong.blogspot.com

By now, you’ve heard that the KBO begins play tomorrow. Thankfully for some baseball fans, they’ll be broadcasting games on ESPN once a day. There isn’t a package to buy where you can stream all the games, but considering that these games are going to be played at 1 o’clock in the morning, you may not want to.

if you’re like me, you’re having a hard time getting excited for this. As much as I like baseball, I’m having trouble getting excited for this. Maybe it’s because I’ve never watched the KBO product except when South Korea plays in the WBC, but I’m just not feeling this. You, however, might be excited as all get out to stay up late to watch these team square off.

If you’re in need of some assistance with picking a team, the best I can offer is former blog lord Liz Roscher’s KBO primer for Yahoo.

This wonderful piece gives you a nice overview of what teams have what players, or more importantly, what teams ave what mascots.

If all you’re concerned about is which former Phillies are in Korea, currently getting ready to ply their trade, here are some of the best:

Aaron Altherr - The former future of the Phillies right field is currently on the NC Dinos. He’s more than likely going to do some starting there, but we’ll see.

David Buchanan - Buchanan is coming over from the Japanese league where he posted an ERA close to 5 there. Signing with the Samsung Lions, he’ll join up with former Phillies hurler...

Ben Lively - Lively signed with the Lions in hopes of resurrecting his career and being able to bring it back from Korea to the United States. In 9 starts with Samsung last year, he put up a 3.95 ERA, so there is still a chance for him.

Ricardo Pinto - Perhaps the least known former Phillie, Pinto was one of those anonymous relievers during the dark times, when the rebuild was on. He’ll be pitching for SK Wyverns.

Hyun-Soo Kim - well, is there anything more that needs to be said?

Friends, that’s one hour’s worth of that glory.
