Ventura County sheriff deputies arrested four people found in a vehicle parked in a no parking zone along the Pacific Coast Highway early Monday, the Ventura County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday.
The arrest began at 8:45 a.m. in the 9000 block of the Pacific Coast Highway along the unincorporated south coast of Ventura County.
A deputy was patrolling the area when they noticed a vehicle parked on the side of the road, despite county beaches having a no parking zone around them due to the county's response to the coronavirus pandemic. The driver also appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance, authorities said.
During the investigation, one of the occupants of the vehicle, identified as Alexis Medellin, 21, of Hollywood, appeared to have a medical emergency, deputies said. Authorities began to offer medical aid to Medellin and found he was in possession of a loaded handgun.

All four were arrested on a variety of charges, including forgery, possessing methamphetamine for sales, being a felon in possession of a loaded handgun and several misdemeanor narcotics violations. Each was booked into county jail. Medellin remains in custody in lieu of $60,000 and has a court appearance scheduled for Wednesday. The other three occupants were cited and released after booking.
