'The Great British Baking Show' 2020 Cast Guide: Follow the Bakers on Instagram - Decider

poloong.blogspot.com

A brand new season of the sweetest show on Netflix is back in full-swing. The Great British Baking Show has returned for its 11th official season this Fall (aka The Great British Baking Show Collection 8 on Netflix). This new season of the international fave was filmed completely in a quarantine bubble at Down Hall in Great Britain. The bakers quarantined together amid the pandemic and, as you might have expected, the pandaemonium of 2020 has already invaded the tent.

However one thing about The Great British Baking Show remains constant in 2020: how lovable the bakers all are. Sure, Mary Berry’s gone for good and the hosts seem to change every few years, but The Great British Baking Show‘s contestants will always be the most adorable human beings in all the UK. This year we have waistcoat-obsessed Rowan, the hilariously sweet Sura (who walks her pet cat for fun), and a pantomime producer named Lottie who loves Viking metal.

Past Great British Baking Show stars like Kim Joy, Nadiya, Manon, Antony, and both the Rubys have found considerable success outside the tent as Instagram influencers and food TV personalities. Hungry to follow the next class of bakers from The Great British Baking Show on social media? You’re in luck. The 2020 class of The Great British Baking Show are all on Instagram…and they all seem to be continuing to interact with each other far from the fun of the bubble.

Here’s your guide to the current cast of The Great British Baking Show on Netflix and where you can follow them all on Instagram…

Loriea, Age 27

Loriea may have been the first baker eliminated from the tent in 2020, but she made an impact with her bubble gum flavoring and bubbly personality. Loriea works as a radiographer and loves breaking the rules with her bakes.

Mak, Age 51

Mak is an accountant from Manchester who sadly left the tent only last week. Mak was obviously very popular with the other bakers, who were torn up about his absence, and leaves a Bill Bryson-loving void in this year’s Great British Baking Show.

Laura, Age 31

Laura works as a samaritans volunteer and digital manager. While she fumbled on Week 1 with a neck-less Freddie Mercury, she’s managed to charm with her flavors and peppy personality.

Lottie, Age 31

Early fan favorite and the first baker to earn a Hollywood handshake, Lottie works as a pantomime producer in West Sussex. She also apparently has a deep love of Viking culture and metal. We’re not sure what her cute grandparents who live down the way from her think of that.

Dave, Age 30

Dave is the current Star Baker, which is either a sign that he’s destined for great things or a rough week ahead. Dave’s already found himself in the middle of some drama since Sura accidentally elbowed his technical in the first week. Dave works as an armored guard in Hampshire, where he lives with his adorable dog and gorgeous partner, who is expecting their first kid.

Marc, Age 51

Sweet Marc is works as a carer and bronze resin sculptor in Cornwall, and he turned to baking after losing his leg in a motorcycle accident. According to the show, he’s also a single-dad. He’s also a early stand out in the tent and came close to winning Star Baker last week. If he can get his nerves under control, he could last a long time on the show.

Peter, Age 20

Scottish accounting and finance student Peter is the youngest baker in the tent this season and took home the season’s first Star Baker honor. He cites the show itself for inspiring him to be a baker at 12 years old. So, yeah, we’ve got a hardcore GBBO student on our hands.

Sura, Age 31

By day, London-resident Sura works an NHS pharmacy dispenser and by evening she walks her black cat through the streets of the British capital. Okay, we jest. She bakes for fun. Sura has already won one technical and, more importantly, won our hearts with her hilarious reaction shots. Her baking includes a lot of traditional Iranian flavors with a British twist.

Mark, Age 32

Mark is a project manager in Liverpool who MISSED HIS WEDDING ANNIVERSARY TO BE ON THE SHOW. Okay, those all-caps are all our shock at his very reasonable decision. In fact, based on an intro video with his wife — where their dog pulls him hilariously off camera — she seems super down with Mark’s tenure in the tent.

Rowan, Age 55

Rowan, love of my life, master of my soul…Er. (Okay, sorry, I just really love this man.) Rowan is a waistcoat-obsessed music teacher from Worcestershire. Expect his ‘gram to be as sophisticated as his adventurous bakes, right down to the fashion obsession.

Linda, Age 61

Linda is a retired living team leader who lives in East Sussex. She made a very sweet Bob Marley cake in the first week because she loves his laid-back vibe. Linda has also served up some absolutely gorgeous bakes so far and could be a stealth shark in the tent.

Hermine, Age 39

Accountant Hermine was born in Benin, but now lives in London with her son. While she struggled with her Lupita Nyong’o cake in Week 1, she has teased that she is very good with French patisserie. So fingers crossed she gets to dazzle us all with her excellent eclairs.
