SPRIINGFIELD, NJ — As downtown redevelopment continues to progress forward, new information continues to be released about the timelines of both projects. The latest information is as follows, and comes from an update by mayor Chris Capodice:
GOMES PROPERTY
At the Gomes property, commonly known as the Lyons building, demolition of the house on Center Street happened this past week. The footings along Morris Ave were done on Thursday. The next major goal to begin will be they will be either the center or Caldwell Place footings.
According to Capodice, the goal is to get steel up before the weather turns. Additionally, JCP&L was out at the site to discuss moving poles. The company apparently have some concerns with the original plan that Gomes presented. At this time, JCP&L have been asked to prepare several alternatives to route power for the site and Caldwell just in case.
LARKIN PROJECT
At the Larkin project, commonly known as Church Mall, JCP&L also visited to survey the site. A guide wire by Walnut Court needs to be moved and reinstalled. Meters for the Larkin project will be placed on the Church Mall side at the back corner.
According to Capodice, some sort of screening for the meters, possibly lattice work and some shrubs in front will be placed down. Additionally, another load of joists was delivered to the site for construction purposes.
