American Airlines has developed a booking and management platform for group travel for travel advisors, the carrier announced.
The platform "gives agents more control of booking groups with searching, confirmation and modification," said American global head of leisure, groups and middle market sales Kyle Mabry. Features include the capability to search availability and pricing for simple itineraries as well as those with multiple sectors and origins. Agents receive itinerary quotes and holds for up to 14 days and can use the platform to modify quotes and bookings. The platform also provides reminders for deadlines such as when quotes must be accepted or when travelers' names must be entered.
"This new solution sets American's group booking experience apart from other airlines," Mabry said. "Today, most group bookings across the industry have to managed through a process that involves calls, waiting several hours for quotes and limited visibility into itinerary options."
American already has been rolling out the platform in Europe, with contracted travel advisors with European points of sale beginning to receive access during the summer. All contracted advisors in Europe will be able to receive access by the end of the year, and those in the United States and Canada will begin getting access in the first half of 2021.
American plans to have it available globally over the course of the next two years, Mabry said.
