COLLIERVILLE, Tenn. (WMC) - The Collierville Police Department is searching for a group of men who reportedly followed a woman home from Memphis and attempted to rob her at gunpoint in Northeast Collierville on Tuesday.
The victim called police just before 11 p.m. and said that a group of men, wearing ski masks and driving a white Jeep Cherokee with no tags, approached her outside her home in the area of West Nolley Drive and Peterson Lake Road and attempted to rob her at gunpoint.
The victim told police she was followed home from Memphis by the Jeep, but wasn’t sure when or where the suspects started to follow her.
After she arrived home, the Jeep reportedly pulled into the driveway behind her. Two men exited the car, while a third stayed inside, and demanded she give up her car.
Police say the victim refused, and as she ran away, the suspects fired several shots at her car.
Several locals also called police around the same time reporting sounds of gunfire in the area.
Collierville police found the Jeep about a mile and a half south of the attempted robbery and chased it onto Highway 385 Westbound. Police say they lost the Jeep after it exited onto Forest Hill Irene and turned its lights off.
The two suspects who got out of the Jeep were described as having worn all-black and ski masks. The victim said one was heavy-set and the other was thin. There is no description for the third suspect.
