COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - We see a 40% chance of a few strong storms for Thursday morning, then a windy and warm day follows.

- Lows tonight are in the mid 70s with a 20% chance of some showers after midnight.
- First Alert Weather Day for Thursday’s potential for gusty storms, mainly in the morning.
- The Storm Prediction Center has most of the Midlands under a “Slight” or level 2 of 5 risk of severe weather.
- It will be hot and humid for Thursday throughout the weekend with heat index values over 100.
- Upper 90s for Saturday and Sunday with a 20% chance of showers and storms.
First Alert Summary
Tonight we have low temperatures down to 75 and there’s a 20% chance of some showers and storms for just after midnight.
FIRST ALERT Weather Day for Thursday morning storms. Gusty winds are the primary threat with some hail possible as well. From around 7am to around 11am. Models aren’t too robust in the strength of the storms, but the Storm Prediction Center has us under a level 2 out of 5 “slight” risk for severe weather. By the afternoon we have skies clear and the winds start picking up. Expect gusts up to 25mph. High temps are in the low 90s for the afternoon, and it will be humid making it feel like around 103.
Friday we have a short wave in the jet stream that will swing over and bring a 40% chance of showers and storms. It looks like now it’s in the afternoon and evening hours for our best chances of rain and thunder.
A weak high pressure system builds over the area Saturday and Sunday. This will send our heat index values to well over 105! Highs are in the upper 90s for both Saturday and Sunday. Expect a 20% chance of afternoon showers and storms.
Monday looks to be a bit active in the afternoon with some pop-up showers and storms. As of now the sea breeze kicks in and brings the afternoon activity. It is a 40% chance with highs reaching the upper 90s.
The tropics are quiet right now. We are rapidly approaching the peak of the season.

Saturday: Breaks of sunshine with a chance for a few stray storms (20%). Very hot. Highs nearing 97 degrees.
Sunday: Breaks of sunshine with a chance for a few stray storms (20%). Very hot. Highs into the upper 90s.
Monday: Upper 90s with a 40% chance of afternoon showers and storms. Skies are partly cloudy to mostly cloudy.
