Beginning today, the Mississippi Highway Patrol will participate in an intensified enforcement effort on Interstate 10, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Police and Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

The effort is “10-8 on 10, One Road, One Mission,” and will last through the Fourth of July holiday period.

Troopers in their respective states will be placed statewide along I-10 to remove impaired drivers, reduce crashes, promote seatbelt usage and deter speeding. In addition, troopers will also focus on drivers who fail to move over to the left hand lane when a law enforcement, emergency or tow vehicle is parked on the side of the road.

“In joining with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency and the Louisiana State Police, we are committed to one mission, keeping the public safe,” said Col. Randy Ginn, MHP director. “As troopers, we share not only borders, but the same goals in saving lives and providing safe travel to and through our states.”

The high-visibility enforcement detail is designed to keep motorists safe during peak travel times.
