With a growing number of Amazon facilities in the Levittown area, a parking lot for a few dozen vans that deliver for the retailer has been approved along East Lincoln Highway.
The Middletown Township Board of Supervisors approved final land development earlier this month for Performance Fleet, a company that works with Amazon using a fleet of delivery vans.
The company will be installing jersey barriers, four lights, and a fence to limit light pollution to homes along Highland Park Way and Handy Road that abut a portion of the parking lot that will be used by the vans behind the Restaurant Depot at 1661 East Lincoln Highway.
Officials representing the Performance Fleet said there would be 40 to 50 delivery vans that would operated between 7 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.
The planning commission heard the proposal in December and recommended approval with some conditions imposed.
Attorney Michael Meginniss, of Begley, Carlin, and Mandio, who was representing Performance Fleet, said van drivers would arrive at the site, take their vans out for the day, and return at the end of the workday.
The van drivers are not to head through the nearby neighborhood but instead go directly onto East Lincoln Highway.
Amazon recently was approved to build a parking lot along Route 13 next to their new facility in Bristol Township.
