The Chargers have announced their inactive players for their Week 4 matchup with the Buccaneers and there’s a couple surprise designations among them.
The players we all expected be inactive - offensive linemen Bryan Bulaga and Trai Turner, along with quarterback Tyrod Taylor - are all present, but its the decision to have starting kick returner Joe Reed and recently-signed safety Jahleel Addae out for today’s contest that are head-scratchers.
Reed has been a needed shot to the arm of the team’s return game this season and Addae was expected to play some meaningful snaps on defense today with Desmond King now having to play as the team’s starting slot corner with Chris Harris Jr. out for at least a month. With King’s snaps at safety being cut drastically, the expectation was Addae would rotate in as a third safety option. However, with him inactive, I’m not entirely sure how they’re going to have enough bodies there to keep guys fresh.
I guess we’ll have to wait until after the opening kickoff to get a better idea of what this coaching staff is thinking in terms of their game plan against Tampa Bay.
