A small brush fire ignited a hillside along Interstate 8 in Mission Valley Saturday evening, according to San Diego police and fire officials.
At 8:09 p.m., San Diego fire officials were dispatched to reports of a brush fire on the hillside near the eastbound off-ramp of Interstate 8 along Camino Del Rio South near the I-805 interchange. Because of the steep terrain, a helicopter was used to make water drops on the hillside.
The cause of the fire was not available at 9:45 p.m. Saturday. The blaze in Mission Valley was not connected to the 1,500-acre Valley Fire in East County.
